Titans Chat / Level playing field
« on: January 25, 2026, 02:58:31 pm »
The next few weeks with the Prem Cup and the under-20 Six Nations should see a more level playing field with all those teams dependent on shipping in outside talent from Premiership Academies having to rely on their on in-house squads! It may provide some interesting results in our division, might Dings for example struggle?  ;)

Those who had a 40 minute drive to get there for 8-00am and then spent 5 hours trying to get the ground passed to play were slightly upset as well but ha-ho lets not
bleat as tomorrows another day!

One would think Ellis would have played if he didn't have a shift he couldn't swap out of. Would not expect Callum to play the whole match.
Very lucky to have two such good players able to fill the No. 8 position again.

Friday 14th
Fully loaded 4 SODS
Cleaned out dressing rooms, showers and officials changing room after this weeks training sessions, recovered empty cardboard large bin, small bins put out around ground, one heroic SOD swept more guano from Shed and cleaned down seats (well done to the RSM :).

Pitch VERY WET, most boggy between the 22's with goldfish seen swimming on the centre spot! Although the pitch good for drainage, getting a bit saturated.
Still able to see the lines, not washed away - yet!

Very large puddle under Piper Alpha.

I was hoping for a correction to the latin 'punt' from a mere Southern lad from a secondary mod 'tha knows'  ;) :D ;D

Updated SODS report:
Thursday 6th
One silly old SOD pressure washed the 'Piper Alpha' steps in preparation for future painting when weather allows (next April the way things are going).

Friday 7th
Light handed 2 SODS
Cleaned out dressing rooms, showers and officials changing room, recovered empty large bins and 4 empty glass bins, swept leaves from behind clubhouse.

Tuesday 11th
Mob handed 3 SODS
Cleaned out dressing rooms, showers and officials changing room, emptied small bins from around site, put out 1 large bin for collection, swept leaves from behind clubhouse, swept guano from Shed. Looked at seaweed for best day to mark pitch!

Thursday 13th
**** 2 SODS
Marked out pitch  :) :) :) We can play on Saturday!!!!!

Four glass bins put out, one large general bin put out.
TCF small bins emptied - poor dears too busy.
Changing rooms tidied and bins emptied (well done to to Titans Youth for having swept up at the week-end).
Gent's toilet Harry's Bar floor repainted following manhole covers replaced.

Titans Chat / Re: Leicester Lions report on the game

Travis did brilliantly to get back and knock the ball from the wingers grip but only because the winger clearly heard a cry from his team mates to cut in and score under the posts. Stood behind the posts for the incident and was very surprised that the Lions gave Travis a 'dick of the day' award for celebrating the successful tackle back. He took it in good heart but deserves much credit from us for his total commitment to get back.
That said I thought Lions deserved to take a point but never felt we in trouble despite the fluctuating score line. I think Lions will surprise a few teams this year much to our advantage.

There is still a few match reward opportunities to help out the S.O.D.S if anybody would like to get a mention. We will use the lining paint at no charge and throw in cutting the grass for free!!!!!  ;)

Titans Chat / Paint Brush Party
« on: May 30, 2025, 04:09:06 pm »
The S.O.D.S are pleased to announce that the Cricket Pavilion Balcony has now been pressure washed to rid it of accumulated gunge and pealing paint in preparation for a re-paint this summer.

We plan to hold still life painting classes at dates yet to be announced for those desperate enough to learn how to paint railings before tackling their own DIY projects at home. Classes will usually be offered on Tuesday and Friday mornings, weather permitting. Paint and brushes will be supplied free of charge to those fortunate enough to attend!

No need to book. Please just turn up when dates are announced or contact your local S.O.D representative.

Big thanks to those who have contributed to the Pitch Preparation appeal through the Crowdfunder. :)

Titans Chat / Crowdfunder - Updated reward for Pitch Preparation
« on: May 25, 2025, 01:51:35 pm »
Among all the usual great rewards on this seasons Crowdfunder is a newbie - Pitch Preparation!

Pitch preparation at £50 a home game has been added to help cover the cost of the line marking materials.
The 'Silly Old Delinquents Society' or SODS for short, mark out the pitch on the Fridays before home games and this reward will go towards covering the cost. Labour is of course provided free.
No great reward is in fact offered other than a nice warm glow for the kind donors and our deep appreciation.
Many thanks
