This is pretty much Harvey’s ‘go to’ team, with the exception of 8. I agree Rosslyn Park will be massively up for the challenge. Plymouth at Dings Crusaders, they should win, but we lost there, so you never know.

Poor show by the club yesterday, to be playing a club from Bristol, or anywhere for that matter, and postponing the game at 1pm is amateurish to put it mildly. It was obvious that the game was in doubt, a request for an official to get down to the Ground should have been made earlier. From the outside, it looks like they gambled on the pitch thawing, and it didn’t.
The comms out of the club was equally poor. Many people contacted via X to ask the question, none of them received a reply.  No apology either for the late call off.

Titans Chat / Re: Leeds Tykes v Roth latest scores

Rob Povey has done ok since coming back, he’s by far our best 10, but he was the guilty party on Saturday at missing touch with a penalty or 2.
I thought our backs would be licking their lips at the wide open spaces at Headingley, but it was actually their back 3 who impressed, albeit the ball was put in the right areas for them, and that’s what we didn’t do.
It’s going to be tight, it’s a really competitive league, but you’re right, we seem to have lost a little something recently, and we need to get it back to win this league.

Yes, got to agree with this, I’m not sure about some of the penalties he gave them in the 1st half, but that meant they had territory almost the whole half, had they executed more, we’d have lost by a few more points.
In the 2nd half, they kicked intelligently, and we didn’t, so once again almost all the game was played in our half.
Too many errors, tactics not great on the day, and unfortunately Leeds played well, we got what we deserved, or a point more than we deserved.
The wheels do seem to have fallen off at Rosslyn Park, for now anyway, but Plymouth have found form, and a few others too.
Our result at Sale, on the opening day, looks better now than it did at the time.

Titans Chat / Re: Harvey Interview
« on: December 08, 2025, 09:20:56 pm »
Harvey is a fantastic coach, he’s changed the mindset at the club, and the mindset of our supporters. Too many of our fans were happy when we were in Nat 2 playing Wharfdale, Sheffield Tigers and Hull Ionians, as they were local games.
Harvey saw the potential of the club, and has upped the ante big time.
Now, it’s regarded as this league, or the 1 above, is the place that our club should be striving to play - exciting times.

The 2 European finals are not listed. Will they not be showing at the clubhouse. An English club in both finals?

What’s happened to Rob Povey?

Can I ask why the majority want us to retain as much of the current squad as possible for next season? The squad was nowhere near good enough, we need winners. Things improved latterly with bonus points but we still only won 2 games. We need a completely different mentality at the club, we need winners on and off the field. And, importantly it’s not all about this season, the current decline has been going on for years. Tonight I am absolutely gutted and want to blame everyone. Rotherham Titans should not be playing at the 4th level of professional rugby.

I also read people blaming Posa, why do we never blame the people who recruit the coach? This is a desperately sad day for our club. There is no sugar coating that.

Titans Chat / Re: Team for Saturday

At the Back - I’ve not been watching different games, save the sarcasm! That’s my opinion which is what this forum is about - isn’t it? I say this because our set piece has in the main not been good enough this season. Line out awful and scrum often taken apart too easily.
When you look at it in the context of last season in the same league, from 1 to 8 we were much better, our scrum, with Dan Richardson in particular exceptional, and a proper ball carrier in Seb at number 8, was 1 of the best, if not the best, in the league.

For a must win game, not only that but a must win 5 point game, Backs look good although personally I’d rather see Boxhall and Hollingsworth as the half back pairing.

The problem is that the backs haven’t been the issue this season. Will the forwards be good enough tomorrow? We will see. It has to be a bonus point win in horrible weather or we are staring the abyss in the face.

We played badly at their place and should have lost, tomorrow is not a gimme!

David Mitchell, a couple of pints after the match yesterday meant I couldn’t differentiate between an optimistic and a pessimist! 😀 However, you get my drift. I look forward to seeing this battle plan! It’s not a case of glass half full or half empty. I just can’t see how we can do something in the last 8 or 9 games that we haven’t done for the 1st 20! It’s more about being realistic.
Can this team suddenly find a level that’s capable of beating Richmond on Saturday, or Rams 2 weeks after that. As to survive we will have to win some games like that.

Birmingham Moseley have some tough games for sure, but so have we. With the fixtures remaining it’s very difficult to see how they could relinquish a 13 point advantage. We are clutching at straws. It’s over, this squad has not been near good enough.

In the bigger picture, the club has been in decline for a number of years.

When Doncaster dropped in to this league a few years ago, they bounced straight back, albeit on the last day. The club talked about promotion back to the Championship at the beginning of last season and this season. However, they must have known that in reality it was never likely. As I’ve said many times, it is very sad that the once feared Rotherham Titans will be playing what I would call ‘park rugby’ next season.

The referee was indeed poor today, I’m sure we had him down at Plymouth last season and he was poor that day too.
However, we were also terrible in the first half and that was our undoing. I think even the most pessimistic of our fans have to accept that we are now doomed to what I call non league rugby. It’s very sad.

No points gained and another game gone. We’re running out of games. On to next week but we need points and fast. Birmingham Moseley play Canterbury next week. Not easy for them but we have Chinnor which will also be tough.

Titans Chat / Rikki Stout
« on: January 21, 2020, 07:04:17 pm »
I believe he is training again, it would be a massive boost to our run in if we had him available. Him along with Dan Richardson were outstanding last season where our scrum was 1 of the best in the league. The scrum this season has not been near as good, although it did ok on Saturday, but this in my opinion is 1 of the main reasons we are where we are.

Thoughts anyone?
